Syphon, used for sharing videos between programs. I used my VJ software as input in Unity, this is possible through the use of Syphon. Also, it's for free.

The example projects provided on the Unity web-site are a great way to get started. I used multiple example projects and got all kinds of usefull things out of it. Especially the procedural examples, they have some nice scripts!

For all other questions, I found this site really helpfull.
All these links we're really helpfull to me when I got started, but the thing that matters most, is just dive in to it. I never worked with Java-scripting (they should have called it Unity-scripting) before, but because I had some clear goals, it made learning the stuff so much easier. Set yourself a goal, and go ahead and realise it in Unity!
